He later renounced those titles and adopted the surname of Mountbatten after he became a British citizen 🇬🇧. . He married Princess Elizabeth on November 20th 1947 and had four children together 💍. . He served with distinction in the British Royal Navy in both the Mediterranean and Pacific theatres during the war. He later left active naval service after Elizabeth became Queen in 1952 ⚓️. . Prince Philip carried carried out more than 22,000 solo public engagements before retiring in 2017 at age 96 👑. . The late Duke of Edinburgh died in 2021 at the age of 99, at Windsor Castle in Windsor ⚰️. .
