Slover is still on active duty and recovering from severe injuries, and attended the State Of The Union Address last evening alongside his wife, Amy. He has a distinguished career focused on aviation in special operations, with expertise in planning and executing complex insertions under extreme conditions. Slover was awarded the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military decoration, for his actions during Operation Absolute Resolve on January 3, 2026, which was the surgically executed raid to capture Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro in Caracas. As the flight lead and pilot of the first MH-47 Chinook helicopter into Caracas, Slover was responsible for planning the aviation component of the mission and leading the insertion of a Delta Force assault team into Maduro’s heavily fortified compound under the cover of darkness.
